KGLP Station Manager speaks with Navajo Nation Vice-President Jonathan Nez, who is running against former Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. in the 2018 Navajo Nation Presidential election.

VP Nez speaks on such issues as health, the Diné Food Sovereignty Alliance, nutrition, economic development, tourism, and more.

The first of the 2018 Navajo Nation presidential debates will begin at 5 p.m., Mountain Daylight Time, this Tuesday, October 16th at the Navajo Tech Wellness Center on the Crownpoint, New Mexico campus, with a debate between Jonathan Nez and Joe Shirley Jr.’s running mates, Myron Lizer and Buu Nygren, followed by the main event with Mr. Nez and Mr. Shirley at around 6pm.

Doors to the debate will open at 4 p.m., with tribal, state, and federal politicians setting up informational booths by 3 p.m.

Navajo Nation Broadcasting, KTNN-KWRK, and NTU's campus station, KCZY, will provide live streaming of the presidential debate starting at approximately 6pm; the vice presidents’ debate will not be aired.

Preview of Gallup Oct. 6th Harvest Moon Quilt Show

KGLP Station Manager Rachel Kaub speaks with Nellie Kelsey and Kristi Wilson about the coming October 6th Harvest Moon 2018 Quilt Show, taking place from 10am until 5pm that day at the Larry Brian Mitchell Recreational Center, 700 Joseph M. Montoya Boulevard, in Gallup, NM 87301.  There is a $2 entry fee, with Children under 10 admitted for free.

One quilt will be raffled...there will also be some items for sale, and door prizes.

RMCHCS David Conejo recalls the last 4 years in Gallup

KGLP Station Manager Rachel Kaub speaks with David Conejo, CEO of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Healthcare Services, who summarizes hightlights of his team's management over the last four years, his personal history, and the upcoming Charity Invitational benefit for updates to patient rooms at the Gallup hospital.

Individual and team registration is open for the 2018 Charity Invitational Golf tournament, happening at the Fox Run Golf Course, in Gallup New Mexico on Saturday, September 22nd.

Then, on Saturday, September 29th, from 6 until 11pm, the 2018 Charity Invitational Gala, an annual fundraiser benefiting RMCHCS projects through the Western Health Foundation takes place, with this year's event at Red Rock State Park in Church Rock, New Mexico.

There will be music, Wise Fool circus performers, dinner and more, with all proceeds going to the RMCH patient room renovation project.

All proceeds from the Golf tournament and Gala will benefit the RMCHCS patient room renovation project.

Full segment with To Nizhoni Ani RE NGS and Coal impacts on water table and environment

KGLP Station Manager Rachel Kaub speaks with members of Tó Nizhóni Ání (Sacred Water Speaks), discussing the status of the Navajo Generating Plant in Page, Arizona, and Peabody Energy's Kayenta mine, the two impacting water tables and potable water sources.  Plans had been announced for closure of NGS, then a push for the sale of the plant to a new operator was promoted by groups including those workers and families affected by the pending closure.

Our Navajo Nation has been exploited by outside corporations before -- and it will happen again and keep happening unless we, the People, voice our concerns…

Wall Street’s Avenue Capital wants to try to squeeze the Navajo Generating Station for their own profit – and then run back to their fancy offices in New York.

The Navajo Generating Station is scheduled to close because energy like solar and wind are now cheaper.

That means Avenue Capital will likely try to cut worker pay and hours -- and cut corners on safety and health – in order to get their short-term corporate gain.

And any new deal on NGS will immediately wipe out all the economic benefits for our Nation that current plant owners have already agreed to. These are vital power line and water resources from the coal plant that we need for building our solar and wind energy economies going forward.

Tell our Navajo Nation Council Delegates not to let Avenue Capital or any corporations get their hands on the Navajo Generating Station and exploit our communities for their outside profit.
