Western Health Foundation
The Western Health Foundation is a 501C3 organization with its own Board of Directors and is a subsidiary of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (RMCHCS). Its purpose is to serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community and to support RMCHCS in its mission to serve God by making a profound and lasting difference in the health and quality of life for all people in the community.
During its first decade, the Foundation raised funds to develop the region's only comprehensive Behavioral Health Unit. Today, RMCHCS Behavioral Health Services includes outpatient mental health services, a 90-day residential alcohol and substance abuse treatment program, a work rehabilitation program, and a transitional housing program.
In 1995, the Foundation raised over $2.3 million to build a new emergency room, Intensive Care Unit, and modern laboratory for RMCHCS. Since 1996, the Foundation holds an annual fundraiser each fall, known as the Charity Invitational, which has raised over $5.5 million for new medical equipment, services, and programs. In addition, the Foundation raises funds for RMCHCS Reach Out and Read program, Home Health and Hospice Services, and the Healthy Parents, Healthy Kids program.
The Foundation has four standing committees that are to meet quarterly. They are the Executive, Finance, Nominating, and Ambassador/Hospitality Committees. Two additional committees, the Major Gift Committee and the Charity Invitational Committee are formed and meet as needed.
